What are the Benefits of Choosing In-Home Care?

A family childcare provider continues the parent's role of caregiver, nurturer, comforter, and first teacher. The provider is not just a baby sitter. A sitter comes into your home for a few hours. You tell her what you want for your child. A family childcare provider welcomes you and your child into her home. She plans meals, schedules, and safety. She organizes the children's activities. She will appreciate your family values and child rearing practices. She is a professional and you can rely on her judgment. Working together as a team, you will provide the best for your child. The provider is not a substitute for you. You are the most important person in your child's life and the provider respects that.

Here are just a few of the advantages of home care!

  • Your child receives individual attention.

  • There is structure with more flexibility than in a center.

  • There is less illness because there are fewer people in and out, which means fewer germs are spread to your child.

  • Your child is cared for and taught by a trained childcare professional. Who is usually a mother as well.

  • Children have an opportunity to play and learn with others in a much smaller group than in a center.

  • Your child has the same caregiver all day every day. And there is one person who knows exactly what your child has done, eaten, etc. throughout the day.

  • It is possible for your child to remain with the same provider from infancy up to or through school age.

  • A quality childcare home may cost more than some day care centers, but the lower number of children, quality of care and consistency of the caregiver makes the difference in price more understandable.

  • The ratio of children per caregiver is much lower in a childcare home than at a daycare center. For example a daycare may have 11 two year olds with one caregiver or 22 two year olds with two caregivers; A registered childcare home is allowed a maximum of 12 children and at least 6 of those must be school age.

  • You and your child are treated as part of the family in a childcare home rather than being just another number in a large center.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Sarah

Our daughter has been with Rena for almost 2 years. She started with her when she was 3 mos old and is now moving onto pre-school at 2 yrs old. We count ourselves blessed that we found Laugh and Learn Daycare. Rena has been amazing since day one, so unbelievably caring and compassionate. Our daughter is always smiling at drop-off time and typically is not thrilled to be leaving at the end of the day. Finding the right provider can be so hard, especially when your kids are still infants when they enter daycare, but Rena made us feel like family from the start and we had no doubt that she would take great care of our daughter.

My husband and I are full time working parents. We knew we wanted a home daycare for our 13 month old son (Weston) however, finding the right one was REALLY tough. Aside from standard safety guidelines that all parents are looking for (which Laugh & Learn abides by), we were looking for someone who would provide the patience, kindness, and emotional support that young children need. We were having a hard time finding the latter, until we met Rena and we knew right away that she was the right fit. She has a calm, kind, gentle demeanor that put us at ease and my son quickly picked up on. At our 1st meeting, Weston was nuzzling up to Rena, forehead to forehead....obviously smitten :) When we arrive in the morning, he quickly makes himself at home, visiting with Rena's 2 wonderful children before they head off to school and exploring toys set out. And when we pick him up, he often smells like Rena...like he's been held and snuggled throughout the day. This small detail is HUGE for this mama. I KNOW my son is loved while he is away from me <3 The Daycare - Rena has gone to great lengths to keep the kids safe with appropriately placed gates and childproofing. Her home, daycare, and backyard are meticulously cleaned and maintained, and there are a large variety of toys and activities to keep kiddos stimulated and happy throughout the day. We could not be happier with our choice to send Weston to Laugh & Learn Daycare and highly recommend this daycare for baby and toddler care.

Lauren

My daughter has been cared for by Rena for almost 1.5yrs, we started when she was not taking the bottle well and Rena was so patient and worked hard with us to help her learn. Our daughter is SO excited to see Rena, her friends and Rena's kids everyday; often I am met with a screaming kid who doesn't want to leave when I get there to pickup. Rena is kind, patient, gentle, loving and nurturing. I feel really lucky to have found Rena; my daughter absolutely adores her.
